Welcome to FY09 -

Here’s To Everyone Earning Discounts!

Welcome to a new “year” of HFC Safety Council. The Steering Committee has developed new plans to get the most out of each meeting, provide members with choices to meet your needs, and enhance safety awareness among all member organizations.

BWC co-sponsors the safety council program and offers premium discount incentives for those who meet the requirements. The discount potential is 2% for safety council participation and 2% for reduced (or 0) frequency and severity.

To receive the participation discount, you must

· Attend at least ten (10) HFC Safety Council meetings/events. (We have 11 planned for the next  8 months)

· Attend up to two (2) external training programs sponsored by  BWC (Safety Congress does count, and we are taking the bus again!) and submit certification for meeting credit.

· CEO (or highest ranking local official) must attend at least one meeting and identify him / herself as the CEO on the meeting sign-in sheet.

· Submit semi - annual reports for 2008 calendar year  by required dates.

If you have any questions about participation or reporting requirements, just ask Katy or Ruth. There will be a spreadsheet post on the website (www.hfcsafetycouncil.com) with the “official” record so you can track your meeting / reporting status.

It is key to the success of HFC Safety Council that we have confirmed reservations for every meeting and event. This not only provides additional records for the 10 meeting attendance mandate for Safety Council discount but also assures that we have enough food for all who attend.

Please respond to the meeting notice with your confirmed reservation (or to let us know you are unable to attend). No shows with confirmed reservations will be billed the $15 meeting cost.

Reservation / Attendance Policy Review

The checks to be presented at today’s (10/1/08) HFC Safety Council meeting reflect the initial 2% participation discount for employers who met the four FY08 eligibility requirements. The overall statewide savings is $16.2 million. A total of 55 HFC Safety Council members - 73% will receive discounts totaling $172,207.18 at today’s meeting. That is a very high percentage of complete participation when compared to the 90 other safety councils across the state. Congratulations HFC Safety Council members - keep up the great work!

The 2% performance discount will be calculated when date is available in November. Correspondence will be distributed at December and January safety council meetings with employer frequency/severity ratios. If earned, the performance discount check will be mailed to the employers business address on file with BWC.
