Welcome to the Highland-Fayette-Clinton Safety Council

Wednesday, September 2nd: Basic Ergonomics

This presentation is a general review of ergonomic principles and risk factors and how these risks present in the workplace.  Attendees will gain an understanding of how and why specific areas of the body are affected by these ergonomic risk factors.

Presented by:  Greg Nartker, Ergonomist III, Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation

I joined the Ohio BWC Division of Safety and Hygiene team in 2004 as an Ergonomist III.  I have used my 14 years of experience in the outpatient rehabilitation field to deliver ergonomic services to the employees of Ohio.  My understanding of the human body and how it responds to physical stressors allows me to interpret an employee’s physical complaints.  Those complaints are directly related to ergonomic risk factors and action plans can be developed for risk reduction.  I also enjoy using my experience with return to work (RTW) and claims management to help employers take care of their injured workers through comprehensive RTW programs.
