As we begin a new year for the HFC Safety Council, we want to take this opportunity to thank and applaud our member businesses for being a part of this valuable program. By working together to increase safety education and awareness, we are doing our part to assist our tri-county region in developing a reputation as a great place to do business—an important economic development tool to help us recruit, retain and expand businesses in Highland, Fayette and Clinton counties. Keep up the great work! - HFC Safety Council Steering Committee

Employers can earn a 2% rebate on their workers’ compensation premium for meeting all of the eligibility requirements and an additional 2% rebate for reducing either frequency or severity by 10%, or maintenance of both frequency and severity at zero. Employer must meet all participation eligibility requirements outlined above to be eligible for the performance bonus. Additionally: ▪ All eligibility requirements must be met through the safety council in which the employer is enrolled (10 meetings; CEO requirement; semi-annual reports)
▪ Any representative of the employer is welcome to attend to meet the eligibility requirement.
▪ A person can represent only one policy number with their attendance at a safety council meeting.
▪ The safety council is the ultimate authority on approving a qualified representative to fulfill the CEO requirement. The highest standard must be maintained in accepting only qualified representatives to fulfill this requirement.
▪ Where a CEO represents multiple policy numbers, his/her attendance at one meeting will fulfill the CEO requirement for all policies but attendance credit will be given to only one policy number.
▪ Self - insured employers, state agencies and employers enrolled in BWC’s group rating and group retrospective programs are excluded from the rebate offer.
Employers who utilize external training for safety council rebate credit must submit a certificate of attendance to the safety council for recordkeeping purposes by June 30, 2010. External training may include: ▪ Ohio Safety Congress - maximum of one meeting credit per event, no matter the number of sessions attended or number of people in attendance. ▪ Division of Safety & Hygiene safety training course - maximum of one meeting credit per course, no matter the number of people in attendance. ▪ Industry - specific safety training - maximum of one meeting credit per scheduled training with at least one hour of safety curriculum, no matter the number of people in attendance.
